My progress has slowed down for these past two weeks... Allow me to explain
It seems like it was just yesterday that we started the @OneRoomChallenge but we're on week 6 an I am a little behind. I wished to be mostly done by now, but it has been tough with time restraints and also having to move in the middle of this process.
I recently discovered that all the studs within the walls inside my friend's condo are metal, which changed things a bit. If I am being honest, I have never worked with metal studs before, and this has caused me to go back to the drawing board to figure out how to overcome this little setback.

Because I now know that I have metal studs all over the walls, I need to figure out a way to anchor the cabinets to the walls in a safe manner. My research has yielded a couple of different ways in which I can accomplish this.
One of the solutions is using a French cleat, which will allow me to safely secure the cabinets to walls. I could anchor these to the studs, and subsequently anchor the cabinets to the bracket on wall. The other option is to open a hole on the wall and install a piece of wooden stud from which I would directly screw the cabinets into.
I will be trying to work on these during the next couple of days, which has proven to be difficult because I can only make construction noise during certain hours of the day, and I am usually working during these hours.
For now, the space has not a lot of progress, which has given me a bit of anxiety, but I know that I will be able to get a lot more done in the following days as I am done with the moving process, which was taking a lot of my "free time."

I am very proud to see how much so many of my fellow designers have accomplished during these past couple of weeks. I encourage everyone to follow the #ORC blog and @Apartmenttherapy to see the amazing progress. I also encourage you to follow me on my Instagram, TikTok and Youtube.
I will have a lot more to share next week. Until then, have a fabulous start to your week. :)
XO, Yaro
