One Room Challenge (Week Four): The Craziness Continues and It's Halloween Week! BOO!

This was, perhaps, the most challenging week ever. Many of the original plans got pushed back because of unexpected circumstances. The week's focus was to tackle all the painting on the major pieces of furniture; the buffet table/credenza, the thrifted chairs and the pedestal for the table.
Because of rain and storm "Zeta" all these plans got pushed back. Instead, I ended up sanding and priming the credenza. Finally finished sanding the chairs I thrifted two weeks ago from my local Goodwill and started putting together the 100lb concrete pedestal for my dining table that was inspired by an "Anthropologie" table that retails for over $500.

After a rough start to the week, I am so pleased with this week's reveal. I worked so hard and overcame lots of obstacles, but the end result made it all worth it. Since week four happens to fall on the week before Halloween, I thought I would approach my weekly reveal with a little spooky fun.
I had a vision of using caution tape and some creepy signs to showcase the week's progress. Pictured above are the sanded chairs I thrifted, the pedestal I built by using concrete and "Dollar Tree" bowls, and the primed credenza.
I started working on this pedestal over a month ago. At first I didn't realize how much it would weight, which is why I waited as much as I could to get these concrete domes out of the bowls. I love they way they turned out!
The chairs I picked up from Goodwill were covered in an ugly shellacked navy blue, which I sanded off and prepped for painting. After putting a poll up on my Instagram, the results are still to be determined. I am still debating between a hunter green or a black finish. I must say, I fell in love with the chairs because of their rushed finish, and since rush is so popular these days, I thought these would fit my space perfectly. I still cannot believe I only paid $10 for each! :D

Going into week five, the plan is to have the chairs and credenza painted. To finish building the base of the table and possibly paint it gold. And to start working on artwork. Let's get it done!
Once again, I want to thank you for your incredible support and for following me along on this journey. I am enjoying being a guest participant of the #ORC so much!! I feel so inspired and hope you all do as well. To follow along on the journey of all the other amazing designers and creators, check out the ORC blog
