The progress continues! -- This week I focused on removing baseboards and finally installing some cabinets.
I must say, if you are thinking about removing baseboards and this is something you've never done before, do your research!! -- Be sure to prepare yourself with the right tools.
When I first started the removing the baseboards, I thought I could use my jigsaw to cut through them. However, it quickly became impossible to cut all the way through due to the angle I was getting with the jigsaw base. This is when I realized that I needed a tool that would allow me to cut through the baseboards but not cut through the wall or the floor. I also wanted something that gave me a bit more control than the jigsaw as it was a little scary at first to try to cut while it was jumping up and down -- I've used power tools before, but when it comes to any type of cutting tools, especially a saw or a jigsawI am still a little intimidated, lol.

I discovered a Dremel, which literally made this process so much easier! -- My friend mentioned something about this tool, but I was certain it was used for sanding only. I was not aware that it could also be used to make small precise cuts. And let me tell you -- It became one of my favorite tools ever! Probably one of the best purchases I have ever made.
Once I figured the correct maneuvering, I was able to remove the baseboard. This process was so satisfying and super easy. I used a utility knife to cut the top layer of caulking that attached the baseboard to the wall and the chisel tool to pull it from the wall. This whole process took less than five minutes!

Last week I mentioned I had sourced the cabinets and was waiting for them to get delivered. I finally got them! -- I picked them up brought them home and started playing with placement. I will be building bases for them to lifted off the floor and because the fridge is a bit taller, in order to have a countertop that goes over the cabinet and the fridge.

My goal for this coming week is to have all the cabinets anchored to the wall and ready to start tiling. I am so excited to start this new stage and see how the space starts to transform.
